Baker · Wotring LLP | Baker · Wotring LLP renovates historic space in JP Morgan Chase Tower

Baker Wotring LLP renovated the 64th Floor space in the JPMorgan Chase Tower – currently believed to be the tallest building in Texas and tallest 5-sided building in the world – formerly occupied since the 1980s by the Houston Endowment.  The Firm retained architect Ken Harry to design the new space which preserved the magnificent unobstructed views of the City and built upon the framework of historic components of the former space.  The renovation and modernization incorporated an environmentally conscious design and adaptive re-use focused on the preservation of original 40-year-old American Cherry paneling, with new contrasting white Italian porcelain stoneware floors and the installation of natural Brazilian semi-precious granite formed by millions of years of volcanic activity to promote the use of natural materials.  The thoughtful modernization avoided the creation of new environmental impacts, opting instead to implement a greener architectural approach and enhance resilience, energy-saving components and natural lighting for a better eco-friendly footprint to showcase a mix of old and new in a quietly elegant space for the law firm.
